"We like to teach the way you like to learn"

The Watermill Curriculum

Watermill School has developed a broad and balanced curriculum offer based on an adapted National Curriculum within our Learning Pathways.  We have a structured approach to learning and our Curriculum aims to create multiple opportunities for pupils to learn skills, practise and apply their skills in new contexts over time.

Watermill School caters to the needs of pupils with very diverse needs. Our Curriculum therefore needs to reflect this diversity.

This comparison chart, sets out how the Watermill Learning Pathways compare to national measures:

This document is updated annually in the Autumn term.

At Watermill School we measure pupil progress in the following ways:

  • Pupils accessing their learning at a level before our Progress Points will have their progress measured in terms of the Engagement Model, Stepping Stones or ASDAN Programme.

  • Pupils accessing their learning at Watermill's Progress Points (4 to 13) will have their progress measured directly through our Progress Points and/or the Early Years Framework, ASDAN Programme, Entry Level 1-3 depending on the pupil's ability/needs.

Please note, If a hyperlink appears in a document, you will not be directed to the destination file unless you are part of Watermill's network. This is for school use only.

Curriculum documents are reviewed annually by the Subject Leaders.

Next review due date: Summer 2024.

Primary Pathway 1-3, Secondary Pathway 1-3 and Communication Pathway 2 and 3, all access the Curriculum developed by the Subject Leaders at Watermill School. To see the Curriculum for each of the Learning Pathways, please select the academic subject below.
