Transition at Keystage 4

School Partnerships.

Your child will attend a college course one day per week when they are in key stage 4.  We will discuss the courses and guide your child to the right one for a successful experience.

We presently have successful partnerships with:-

Reaseheath college, Newcastle college and Stoke college.

Reaseheath offer us horticulture.

Newcastle College offer us, the college experience including hairdressing, performing arts and cookery.  We also access half a day for life skill cookery.

Stoke College offer us, motor vehicle, construction, and hairdressing.

If a college environment is not suitable we have links with training providers for those more independent students who would like to work towards an apprenticeship at post 16.

Work experience.

Students are encouraged to undertake a work experience.  Watermill has access to a various selection of suitable placements, these are fully insured and risk assessed.

Industry week.

During the last month at Y10 we participate in a full week of Industry visits.  The students choose the range of places to explore.  This accounts towards an accreditation.

Weekly Careers Service

Watermill has an advisor in school each Wednesday, Lisa Reeve.

Lisa works closely with our transition coordinator Andrea Brown and together they will offer advice and guidance.  A support plan is put into place for when your child moves on at post 16.
